Parannoyed Delusions

As you can probably see, Parannoyed Delusions is now hosted under Blogger. Which is funny because previously I was using Movable Type. Some might see this as downgrading. But I have my reasons. My previous MT setup was hosted on a shared-hosting server with a certain web hosting company. I got that account for free, in exchange I was asked to be a moderator at one of their forums. They said this account would be free for life. And I believed them.

And so a few days ago, I got an e-mail from them. It was an announcement for a year end promotion they're doing. They're giving 15% discount for new orders. I thought this was nice, since I'm already getting free hosting. So I considered taking it up, perhaps I could use a second domain. But then they did the smartest, conniving thing to my account. Instead of disabling it entirely (which will conflict with their original offer, free hosting for life), they downgraded my account so that my diskspace shrank from 400MB to 200MB. Furthermore, they somehow managed to automagically increase my current quota to flat 200MB, so no matter how many files I deleted, it's still 200MB or above. They probably think this would naturally force me to order up a new account. Smart. Funny, 15% doesn't sound that much now.

And so here I am blogging with Blogger. Which I think, in a weird way, would be easier since Blogger is much less complicated and easier to use than MT. Anyway, not many time does one get a chance to start all over again, to that let me quote my currently most favourite author, Paulo Coelho:

Those who have lost everything they owned are in a better position than many others, because, from that moment on, things can only improve.

Well... perhaps that's a bit too deep for the current subject matter.
